A 27-year-old man was stabbed to death by a 33-year-old colleague at a gas station in Santa Rita de Minas, in the Rio Doce Valley, after fight over food, on August 13. Images recorded by the author himself show the victim threatening him with death before being murdered.
The two had been hired to work in a warehouse in Caratinga, a neighboring town and, after consuming alcohol during lunch earlier that day, the author would have dropped the food and refused to take it back, which would have irritated the victim. After lunch, the two were being taken by a third colleague back to Manhuaçu, where they lived, and they continued the discussion along the way.
When they stopped at a gas station, both got out of the car – the author already had a knife, according to witnesses heard by the Military Police. Before being murdered, the victim would have hit the perpetrator with a stick twice, according to witnesses. In the video recorded by the man, the victim approached him asking “Do you have a family?”, while the author repeated “I’ll stick the knife in you. I don’t want to kill you”.
Videos recorded by the post’s cameras show the moment when the author stabbed his colleague, with at least five witnesses around the establishment. When the Military Police arrived at the scene, the man was already dead and the author was arrested in the act.
Both had a criminal record – the author, for bodily injury; and the victim, for threat, bodily injury and attempted murder.
